I was born en La Isla Del Encanto. I am so proud of where I came from too. The food is delicious, the culture is rich, and we know how to dance! Being Puerto Rican teaches us the value of a dollar, it teaches us lessons & traditions that we will take with us wherever we go.
Honestly, you WILL take it with you. I find myself putting rice in a large cracker can. I find myself reusing ziploc bags that were once used to put dirty oil in it to throw it out. I find myself cleaning with Mistolin (despite the fact that I saw more ants around my counter top while doing so) I find myself having una tazita de cafe por las mañanas.
But nothing beats that smell of Puerto Rican food cooking, la carne de los pasteles fogging up the windows, the smell of the masa as you are scratching the living daylights of your fingers. (Or if you were like my late father, order a handmade machine to make your life a little easier)
